Job Description

Permanent

The Opportunity

We're currently seeking a skilled Bitumen Tanker Maintenance Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work with specialised equipment essential to road construction operations.

You'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing bitumen tankers, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and in line with compliance standards. If you have a strong mechanical background and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Tasks Ahead

As a Bitumen Tanker Maintenance Technician, your primary focus will be on ensuring the reliable and safe operation of bitumen tankers used in road construction and surfacing projects.

You'll be responsible for conducting routine inspections, diagnosing mechanical faults, and performing preventative maintenance on tank systems, including burners, pumps, valves, and hydraulic components.

A key part of the role will involve maintaining the integrity of heating systems that keep bitumen at optimal temperature during transport and unloading.

You'll also be expected to carry out welding and fabrication repairs, monitor and calibrate temperature and pressure controls, and ensure all work is completed in line with relevant safety, environmental, and transport compliance standards.

This role will require working both in workshop settings and occasionally on-site, supporting operational readiness and minimising downtime.

· Understanding of hazardous materials handling (especially hot bitumen)

· Strong safety awareness and PPE compliance

· Cleaning and flushing tanks to remove bitumen buildup or contamination.

· Testing and calibrating gauges and sensors (temperature, pressure, level indicators).

· Performing welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs as required.

· Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, especially due to the flammable and hazardous nature of bitumen.
