Location:Workers Compensation & Liability Consultant with primary focus on assessing and determining liability for claims; factual investigations and managing complex claims.
The Team:
The Injury Management (IM) team is responsible for providing high level advice and working in partnership with Department of Health (DoH) business units to ensure effective management of workers' compensation matters, injury management and return to work activities; and ensure policy, procedures and systems are in place to meet compliance with current workers compensation and injury management legislation.
The Role:
- Assess and determine liability of new workers compensation claims through factual and medical investigation.
- Develop and maintain specific initiatives tailored to the improvement of workers compensation and injury management indicators for our workforce. Programs are to have a strong operational emphasis and to be compliant with current and planned legislative changes and best practice.
- Promote sound human resource practices in the Agency, through the provision of high-level strategic and specialist advice to Manager - Injury Management and senior managers on a broad range of Workers Compensation, Injury Management, and related HR issues.
- Manage complex claims and enquiries, and prepare high-level correspondence, documentation and reports in a timely manner.
- Manage longer-term workers compensation claims to finalisation and/or negotiate settlement of claims, under general direction of the Senior Consultant, Workers Compensation & Liability.
- Negotiate and liaise with relevant parties, including Injury Management Coordinators (IMC's), the Office of the Solicitor General, legal and union representatives, treating medical practitioners and specialists, Tasmanian Risk Management Fund Administration Agent, senior executives, staff, and claimants.
Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, ASAP until 27 Jan 2026. *notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $107,899 to $122,292 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Completion of or undertaking, Certificate IV in Personal Injury Management or an equivalent qualification
- Current Driver's Licence
