John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to join our Emergency department. You will play a key role within a supportive team to ensure our patients have a great experience during their care.
About UsJohn Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north west of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 4 operating theatres, 12 bed critical care complex and busy Day Procedure Unit the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community. The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.
Responsibilities- Providing leadership and direction to the Emergency department team
- Providing clinical operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management
- Coordinating the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based
- Ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family centered care in a team focused environment
- Providing guidance, mentoring and support to your team
- Be accountable for the effective management of human, financial and material resources
- Undertaking direct patient care, as required
- Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
- Current Registration with AHPRA
- Working with Children check
- Previous experience at NUM level or equivalent
- Post Graduate qualification in critical care and experience in a critical care setting
- A strong commitment to developing in a management role
- A management degree or working towards (desirable)
- Demonstrated HR management experience
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care
- High degree of computer literacy including MS Office and various databases
- Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
