Rolleston Open Cut is a 16Mtpa thermal coal mine located in the southern Bowen Basin in Central Queensland. With a long life of mine and low operating costs, the mine has a bright outlook. Job Description

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Mine Accountant's primary focus is the provision of accurate and timely financial accounting information to internal stakeholders allowing both operational and corporate requirements to be met. This includes but is not limited to management and financial accounting, capital expenditure management and evaluation, budgeting and forecasting, contract evaluation, production and project reporting.

Requirements of the role include:
  • Ownership of the month-end processing and reporting for operational and capital expenditure.
  • Management of monthly and yearly budgets and forecasts.
  • Mentoring cost owners in cost control, accruals, and commercial responsibilities.
  • You will be results-focused with a strong ability to implement successful change and be a team player.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will:
  • Be proficient in SAP, Excel, and XERAS.
  • Have an understanding of Unit Rates and Mining Cost Drivers.
  • Be highly motivated, have the ability to problem solve, and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Must have a degree in commerce or accounting (or equivalent).
  • Hold CPA or CA qualifications (or in progress).
  • Have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in coal mining.

  • 9-day fortnight.
  • FIFO available.
