Narrabri Shire Council is currently seeking Expressions of Interests for a suitably qualified and experienced person to be appointed as Chairperson for Council's Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC) for a 4-year term.
As a key position supporting Council in maintaining strong and effective Governance, the Chairperson will be a proven leader with extensive experience in senior management, risk management and governance. This role is suited to an individual of integrity who can exercise independent judgment while remaining open to evolving perspectives as new information emerges.
Responsibilities- Compliance;
- Risk Management;
- Fraud Control;
- Financial Management;
- Governance;
- Implementation of the strategic plan, delivery program and strategies;
- Service reviews;
- Collection of performance measurement data by the Council;
- Internal Audit; and
- Any other matters prescribed by the regulations
Applicants will be expected to possess a variety of skills and experience relevant to the ARIC Responsibilities.
The Chairperson will be expected to quickly establish credible and constructive relationships with other Committee members, Councillors and Executive Council staff.
Remuneration For An Independent Chairperson- Sitting fee for Independent Voting Chair - $2,000.00 per meeting;
- Use of private vehicle - reimbursement at the rate per kilometre as determined in the Local Government (State) Award; and
- One (1) night accommodation per meeting - reimbursement of actual expense.
The term of the membership shall be for four (4) years. Members can be reappointed for one further term, but the total period of continuous membership cannot exceed eight (8) years. It is intended that an appointment will be made by the end of October 2025.
