Senior Project Manager

Are you ready to play a key leadership role in the future of public transport infrastructure? The Public Transport Authority (PTA) seeks an experienced professional to manage the planning, design, and implementation of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) Radio System and High Capacity Signalling (HCS) across electric and diesel rollingstock fleets. The role oversees the full lifecycle of vital communications and signalling projects—from concept through to installation and commissioning—ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and compliance with Rail Safety National Law and the PTA's Code of Practice. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, guide project planning and execution, manage risk, and ensure fleet availability with minimal operational disruptions during the project transition.

As a senior technical leader, you will provide expert advice on contract and project management, oversee high-risk contracts, and act as Superintendent or Principal's Representative on designated works. You will develop strategic relationships with stakeholders, direct contractors and consultants, and ensure compliance with safety, technical, and performance requirements. With a focus on assurance, engineering standards, and continuous improvement, you will support training, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure project success and a lasting impact on the reliability, safety, and efficiency of Western Australia's public transport network.

• Lead the planning, design, and implementation of the LTE Radio System and HCS across rollingstock fleets.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of communications and signalling projects from concept to commissioning.
• Ensure seamless integration with existing systems and compliance with Rail Safety National Law and PTA Code of Practice.
• Manage risk, project planning, procurement, contracts, and performance across multidisciplinary teams.
• Act as Superintendent/Principal's Representative on designated works and lead contract management for high-risk contracts.
• Direct contractors and consultants; develop strategic stakeholder relationships.
• Support training, testing, and commissioning activities; ensure fleet availability with minimal operational disruption.
• Uphold safety, engineering standards, and continuous improvement practices across projects.

• Recognised Engineering degree and eligibility for Engineers Australia membership.
• Proven expertise in rollingstock planning, design, and construction.
• Strong leadership, project, and contract management skills with a track record of guiding multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors to successful outcomes.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration across senior public and private sector stakeholders.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a strategic focus to deliver innovative solutions to complex technical and operational challenges.

There is currently one fixed-term opportunity for five years with immediate start and potential for renewal or permanency.
