Environmental Advisor/Senior Environmental Advisor

We're open to Advisors of mid-senior (minimum 2 years experience) — salary depending on experience and capability.

About Us

BNTAC is thePrescribed Body Corporate (PBC) for the Banjima People, holding native title on trust on their behalf. Our mission is to build a strong future for the Banjima people. Our work spans across a vast area in the Pilbara, ensuring Traditional Owners have a voice in heritage, environmental, and economic matters.

About the Role

As the Environmental/Senior Environmental Advisor – Native Title, you will play a key role in supporting Banjima Traditional Owners in Native Title operations. This includes working primarily with mining companies, government agencies, and advisory bodies to support heritage, environmental, and cultural initiatives. You will lead engagement with stakeholders to ensure the protection and advancement of Banjima interests.

Some of Your Key Responsibilities:

Represent Banjima interests in environmental approvals and compliance processes (EPA, EPBC Act, RiWI Act)

Engage with mining companies, government departments and external consultants

Provide strategic and culturally sensitive advice to the Banjima Heritage and Environment Committee

Build trusted relationships with Traditional Owners and advocate for Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC)

Participate in on-Country engagements, site visits and cultural assessments.

What You'll Bring

Minimum 2 years' experience in environmental management (mining/resources experience highly regarded)

Strong understanding of environmental regulatory frameworks (EP Act, EPBC Act, RiWI Act)

Experience in engaging with regulatory stakeholders

Highly organised, with strong communication and time management skills

Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management or a related field

Cultural competence and a genuine commitment to working with Traditional Owners

Willingness to occasionally travel to the Pilbara and work on-Country

Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one.
