Adelaide, South Australia Australian Submarine Corporation Full time

ASC is Australia's submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy's Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats' service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia's history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia's national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Operations and Supply Chain Capability, this pivotal role ensures the right people, skills, and systems are in place to support ASC's operational and supply chain targets, whilst driving strategic workforce planning and capability development to meet current and future program demands.

Responsibilities

  • Support effective resource prioritisation and decision-making within a constrained workforce environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing high-quality solutions to complex workforce and operational challenges.

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

About you

  • Qualifications and/or suitable equivalent experience relevant to operations or supply chain management supplemented with qualifications in a management discipline.
  • Membership of CIPS/ASCM or a recognised trade development organisation (eg. Weld Australia) ideally with professional practice certification (MCIPS, AWE etc).
  • Proven leadership experience in operations, supply chain, project management, or capability development—ideally within a similar industry.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering capability development programs aligned with strategic business objectives.
  • Solid understanding of the shipbuilding or defence sector, including current industry trends, technologies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in coaching and evaluating competencies across diverse job families.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritise limited resources and make effective trade-offs.
  • A track record of identifying and implementing high-impact solutions to complex workforce and operational challenges.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
