About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Operations and Supply Chain Capability, this pivotal role ensures the right people, skills, and systems are in place to support ASC's operational and supply chain targets, whilst driving strategic workforce planning and capability development to meet current and future program demands.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with planning teams to identify short-, medium-, and long-term resource and capability gaps across Operations and Supply Chain programs.
  • Lead the development and execution of workforce capability strategies aligned with ASC's operational and program delivery objectives.
  • Partner with Recruitment, Learning & Development, and Talent teams to address workforce shortfalls and support capability building initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Operations and Supply Chain Capability team, setting clear goals and performance expectations.
  • Support effective resource prioritisation and decision-making within a constrained workforce environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing high-quality solutions to complex workforce and operational challenges.

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

About you

  • Qualifications and/or suitable equivalent experience relevant to operations or supply chain management supplemented with qualifications in a management discipline.
  • Membership of CIPS/ASCM or a recognised trade development organisation (eg. Weld Australia) ideally with professional practice certification (MCIPS, AWE etc).
  • Proven leadership experience in operations, supply chain, project management, or capability development—ideally within a similar industry.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering capability development programs aligned with strategic business objectives.
  • Solid understanding of the shipbuilding or defence sector, including current industry trends, technologies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in coaching and evaluating competencies across diverse job families.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritise limited resources and make effective trade-offs.
  • A track record of identifying and implementing high-impact solutions to complex workforce and operational challenges.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
