We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our organisation as an Associate Tax Director in our Tax Team.
Role Overview:As an Associate Director – Tax Advisory, you will play a key leadership role in delivering strategic tax advice, managing complex transactions, and ensuring tax compliance across a variety of business scenarios. Whether within a boutique advisory environment or an in-house corporate setting, you will bring a combination of deep technical expertise, sound commercial judgment, and strong client and stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the Registered Tax Agent on record at Acclime Australia Group, including registration of Acclime Australia Tax Pty Ltd as a Tax Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board;
- Support the Head of Tax / Tax Director in developing and running the tax practice at Acclime Australia
- Provide general tax advice to Acclime Australia Group clients, including but not limited to matters in respect of cross-border taxation issues. This canvasses verbal, e-mail and formal letters of tax advice;
- Identify and advise on tax planning opportunities to optimize corporate structures and shareholder outcomes;
- Provide tax advice to Acclime Australia Group management, including preparation and / or review and lodgement of annual tax returns and annual FBT returns for the Acclime Australia Group;
- Provide general support to the entire Acclime Group (includes Acclime Group overseas affiliates) as and when required in relation to Australian tax matters;
- Undertake meaningful business development activities, including issue, risk and opportunity identification with existing Acclime Australia clients and in developing prospective clients; proposal planning and delivery; networking and speaking engagements;
- Review and final sign-off of tax compliance items for clients – FBT returns, Income Tax Returns, ESS reporting and other such submissions to the ATO;
- Tax Agent on record, representing Acclime Australia Tax Pty Ltd on the annual R&D Applications. The R&D Applications are prepared by the Acclime Group R&D Team and signed off by the R&D Director;
- Support the Head of Tax / Tax Director with managing the Tax Services practice including the Tax Services profit & loss to ensure the annual budget for any year is met; assist in the preparation of the annual budget; team development & training, including staff reviews;
- Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office;
- Act as a senior contact for clients or business stakeholders, offering strategic insights aligned with business goals;
- Review and sign off on technical tax analyses, memoranda, and compliance documentation;
- Interpret new and evolving tax legislation and assess the impact on client or company operations;
- Lead and mentor junior staff, ensuring quality, consistency, and professional development;
- Contribute to business development efforts or internal strategic initiative, including with our Associate Transfer Pricing Director;
- Manage relationships with external advisors, tax authorities, and relevant regulators as necessary;
- Ad-hoc duties as relate to tax matters; and
- Adhere to Acclime Corporate Values at all times.
- CA or CPA qualified; CTA or Master of Taxation is highly regarded.
- 12+ years of experience in tax and business advisory, preferably in a mid-tier, boutique firm or an in-house corporate setting.
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax law and business advisory practices.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of corporate tax, international tax principles, and tax structuring.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and projects autonomously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a consultative approach.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and providing commercial, risk-aware tax solutions.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Experience with SME and family-owned business clients is highly desirable.
- Tax experience with Managed Funds & ESVCLP tax advisory and compliance related issues looked upon favourably
- In-house context: Experience working within a multinational group or advising multinational clients; familiarity with internal tax governance, reporting, and operational tax processes.
