Join the dynamic leadership team at Western Cape College - Weipa Secondary Campus. We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Head of Department for Semester 2, 2025.

As Head of Department (Technology) and Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Manager, you will lead curriculum delivery in all Technology subjects and oversee student and teacher activities in line with the College's vision and values.

Relocation expenses may be negotiated with the successful applicant. Subsidised accommodation and remote incentives are available for eligible applicants.

This is a temporary full-time position to commence in Semester 2, from 14 July 2025 until 12 December 2025 unless otherwise determined.

About The Role

As Head of Department (Technology), you will play a key role in enhancing teaching and learning quality, fostering a positive culture at Weipa Secondary Campus, and establishing effective strategic practices for resource management to support positive student outcomes. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of, and the capacity to lead, the implementation of both the Australian Curriculum and the QCAA curriculum in Technology. Building and maintaining productive relationships with all stakeholders is essential.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the curriculum focus and school department in developing and committing to a shared vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embedding socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Setting high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Undertaking the school Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Manager role.
  • Engaging in lifelong learning and professional development.
  • Forming partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
  • Being future-oriented and strategic.
  • Understanding legislation and policies impacting the school department, students, and staff.
