Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service-Aboriginal Corporation (TAMS-AC) is the leading provider of a comprehensive range of culturally appropriate primary healthcare services to enhance the health and emotional well-being of the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community of Tamworth and surrounding districts. TAMS-AC is an Aboriginal community-controlled health service on the land of the Gomeroi people, based in Tamworth NSW.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a committed and compassionate General Practitioner to join our dedicated team. As a GP, you will play a key role in providing patient-centered care, making a positive impact on community health outcomes. This role is based in Tamworth and services our outreach sites in Gunnedah and Nundle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive, culturally appropriate primary healthcare to patients.
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure culturally safe communication and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

About you:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with patients, staff, and the broader community.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must have a current Working with Children's Check and Police Check.
  • Previous experience working in Aboriginal health, rural, or remote healthcare is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Must be able to work independently or without supervision.
