APRA is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst to join the Cybersecurity Operations team.
This is a mission-critical role where your expertise directly contributes to protecting Australia's financial system from evolving cyber threats.
As part of our internal defence, you'll actively hunt for threats and strengthen our security posture through proactive, risk-based, and intelligence-driven operations.
The team
This role operates within the cybersecurity operations team, a high-impact unit within our broader Data, Technology, and Security division. Key responsibilities
- Proactively conduct threat hunting activities to identify and mitigate potential threats before they materialise. Translate findings into actionable remediation strategies to reduce organizational cybersecurity risk.
- Ensure readiness through regular tabletop exercises, playbooks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct threat hunting activities, incident response, and investigations end-to-end. Contribute to maintaining an effective 24-hour incident response capability if needed.
About you
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to wide audiences.
- Proven experience in cybersecurity analysis.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps and Zero-trust methodologies.
- Experience with intrusion detection engineering and web application security.
- Experience with bug bounty programs.
- Familiarity with cloud-based Microsoft Security Products.
- Experience with SIEM, UEBA, DLP, and related tools.
- Experience in the Australian Federal government (PSPF) is an advantage.
- Practical certifications such as SOC-200, OSCP, HTB CTFS are advantageous.
- Tertiary qualifications in cyber, analysis, or engineering disciplines are preferred.
- You must be an Australian citizen eligible for an NV1 Security clearance.
