Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

Your impact

Reporting to the Global Projects Health & Safety Director, in the newly created position of Director, Health & Safety, Cadia Panel Caves Project (CAD PC) you will lead and enhance the design and delivery of health and safety initiatives for the CAD PC project by implementing Newmont's enterprise-level health and safety standards in alignment to CAD PC project specifications.

As part of our team you will

• Lead the CAD PC project Health and Safety team to achieve planned project deliverables
• Apply oversight, training and strategic safety guidance across CAD PC project life cycle
• Optimise Newmont's enterprise-level health and safety standards with total commitment to zero fatality and injury risk mitigation
• Establish CAD PC project health and safety governance and assurance framework and monitor risk
• Execute Newmont's enterprise-level health and safety standards in collaboration with CAD PC project leadership and EPC/M on-site contractors
• Provide expertise in risk management processes and protocols for CAD PC project life cycle
• Identify and execute health and safety improvements in CAD PC project delivery.

Prerequisites for your success in this role

• University Degree in Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related experience
• Significant experience in Mega ($1B+) and/or Major ($100M+) underground mine projects
• Extensive experience in underground mining operations is essential with familiarity in block or panel caving methods viewed as a distinct advantage
• Expert knowledge of health and safety systems, standards, processes and industry-specific regulation and compliance
• Solid skills in project management fundamentals
• Demonstrated delivery of on-site health and safety practices, risk management processes and proficient data analysis skills (i.e. monitor and predict performance)
• Sound commercial skills including budgeting, forecasting, planning, analysis and reporting
• Confident interpersonal style to effectively collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams
• Previous on-site health and safety team leadership.

This permanent (2-year project tenure) position will be offered as residential in Orange, NSW on a 5:2 roster. Alternatively, a fly in, fly out option to Cadia from Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney (12:9 roster) will be considered for the ideal applicant.

Full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia will be essential to be considered for this position.
