We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail-focused Contracts Inspector to join our team

What You Will Do:

As a Contracts Inspector, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of Council's Capital Works Program. From project prestart to practical completion and closeout, you will provide inspection services, contract management assistance, and ensure compliance with set specifications, standards, and Council frameworks.

You will work across a variety of construction projects, liaising with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to monitor project progress, maintain documentation, and contribute to a safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery of works that benefit the Cairns community.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision or other equivalent tertiary qualifications.
  • Experience working for a Local Government Authority with roadworks, drainage, water supply, playgrounds, parks and gardens, landscaping, and municipal buildings.
  • Construction Inspection experience in a medium to large construction organisation.
  • WHS Construction Induction / White Card.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, planning and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated detailed knowledge of contractual practices and processes and recognition of how they relate to working within a Council.
