Lead, manage and undertake state-wide quality and safety, clinical governance, and designated projects and/or project activities to enable the timely and effective delivery of complex and sensitive state-wide initiatives to improve consumer outcomes and quality of care in mental health alcohol and other drugs services.

What you'll do

  • Liaise, consult, and develop partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders including the Department of Health, Hospital and Health Services, other government departments, professional groups, people with a lived experience, consumers, families, carers, and community organisations.
  • Provide timely advice and guidance to stakeholders and senior management on specific issues relating to the provision of safe and quality care in mental health alcohol and other drugs services.
  • Prepare high level briefing documents, submissions, correspondence, and reports to enable the provision of strategic advice to the Department Executive, Minister's office, other government departments and key stakeholders.
  • Represent the Clinical Governance Unit and Office of the Chief Psychiatrist as required on state-wide committees to develop effective, innovative, and strategic health service responses to the needs of people with mental health and substance use disorders.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • Understanding of the mental health alcohol and other drugs service system, including the complex interrelationships within the government, non-government and private sectors, and relevant policy, legislation and clinical practice issues relating to the care, and health and wellbeing, of people living with mental illness, substance use disorders and suicidality.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, management and implementation of clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement or continuous clinical quality improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and implementing complex system-wide and/or state-wide projects that are time-critical and achieve expected deliverables.
  • Demonstrated high-level analytical, policy and data interpretation and evaluation skills including the ability to integrate multiple related activities to achieve deliverables and outcomes.
