Overview

General Manager Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) for Major & Strategic Projects. Based in Melbourne or Sydney. Reports to the Executive Director for Major & Strategic Projects. Accountable for health, wellbeing, safety, environment and sustainability across the business unit.

Responsibilities
  • Providing operational direction, support and oversight of all aspects of health, wellbeing, safety, environment and sustainability
  • Leading and managing the implementation of HSE strategies, systems and initiatives across the BU and reporting progress to and on behalf of the Major Projects Senior Leadership Team
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company requirements associated with HSE; ensuring management and staff are informed of changes and their impacts
  • Developing and implementing HSE education, as well as compliance and improvement programs for employees, clients, contractors and visitors
  • Ensuring that the Major Projects division implements and monitors the JHG SQERM Operational Risk Management processes, capability, focus and discipline
About You / Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Science, Safety, Environment, or other related disciplines
  • 10 years HSE experience in construction, engineering or heavy industry fields (with major infrastructure/heavy engineering/road/rail/mining/tunnelling and underground construction/power and transmission highly desirable)
  • Several years experience managing and leading an HSE function in complex and high risk industries
  • Regulatory and audit knowledge
