Boilermaker/Welder

Join Metso at Karratha's newest and best equipped repair facility. We are seeking an experienced fixed plant Boilermaker to join our Service team in the newly built Metso Karratha Service Centre.

This position is on an 8/6 roster and is residential based in Karratha.

• Ensure all safety inductions and procedures have been completed prior to undertaking any tasks
• Mark out/off structural fabrication and shapes according to specifications
• After dressing has been completed by the steelyard, prepare material for bending, drilling or machining
• Assemble and weld parts according to technical engineering drawings and route sheets
• Repair, replace, modify and fabricate using appropriate tools and welding techniques
• Perform appropriate welding to carry out the job
• Operate hand tools and power tools appropriate to the job
• Draw and interpret sketches appropriate to the job
• Operate forklift/crane when required to shift and load equipment
• Assist in the provision of on-the-job training when required
• Dismantle, replace and assemble engineering components during general fabrication section activities
• Conduct QA/QC inspections at third-party vendors, ensuring all repairs/project works are to Metso standards, liaising with Engineering and product support as necessary

• Boilermaker Trade Certificate
• Strong attention to detail
• Significant boiler making experience
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical drawings and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Ability to complete weld test FCAW
