The Role and Hospital
The Anaesthetic team consists of a number of fulltime and part time Specialist Anaesthetists, assisted by Registrars, who provide a wide range of services to both public and private patients. Apart from delivering anaesthetic services in the Interventional Suite and pre-admission clinic, the Anaesthetic Department provides an Acute Pain Service and an Obstetric Anaesthesia service, as well as off site services to Medical Imaging, Intensive Care and the Emergency Department.

Specialist Anaesthetists at Bendigo Health provide anaesthesia and related services to all interventional disciplines except Cardiac Surgery, Neurosurgery and Transplant Surgery. As Bendigo Health is an accredited training site, the position's responsibilities include teaching of anaesthetic trainees as well as other junior medical staff, medical students and nursing staff

Bendigo Health is a leading healthcare provider in regional Victoria, known for its high level of professionalism and its engagement with the community. Bendigo Health is a 700 bed service that treats more than 45,000 inpatients, triages more than 65,000 emergency attendees and welcomes more than 1,600 new born babies in a year. In addition, more than 15,000 operations are performed in the operating theatres and more than 100,000 occasions of services are provided in clinics to outpatients. The organisation provides services in emergency, maternity, women's health, medical imaging, pathology, rehabilitation, community services, residential aged care, psychiatric care, community dental, hospice/palliative care, cardiology, cancer services and renal dialysis. There is a 20 bed intensive care unit, and an 80 bed integrated psychiatry facility.

Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand.

Bendigo is a thriving regional city with a population of close to 110,000. It has fantastic restaurants, shops, cultural precincts, sporting facilities and tertiary facilities making it a great city in which to live and work.

Bendigo is the largest centre of finance outside of Melbourne in Victoria. The city has an exceptional number of lifestyle amenities – both cultural and sporting – as well as a large range of private and government provided schools. It has arguably one of the finest private schools in Victoria.

Melbourne, only 1.5hrs away is a major cultural, sporting, academic and economic centre. With a large port and international airport, it is a major hub in the Southern Hemisphere.
