We are seeking an experienced Frontend UI Engineer to join our growing engineering team and take stewardship of our user experiences as we build innovative safety features for families worldwide.

As a Frontend UI Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the user experience of our safety-focused mobile applications and web platforms. With our recent evolution to React & React Native and growing global user base, you'll have the opportunity to establish frontend best practices and mentor a backend-focused team whilst building beautiful, intuitive interfaces that directly impact user safety and wellbeing.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will take ownership of translating designs into exceptional user experiences across our React and React Native applications, whilst helping to elevate the frontend capabilities of our talented engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

Frontend Development & Technical Excellence

• Design and develop responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using React, React Native, and TypeScript
• Transform UI/UX designs into pixel-perfect, functional interfaces that deliver exceptional user experiences across mobile and web platforms
• Take stewardship of our React Native mobile applications, building upon recent delivery partner work to establish long-term frontend architecture
• Implement modern frontend best practices, including component libraries, design systems, and testing frameworks
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to ensure seamless translation from concept to implementation
  
  

Leadership & Knowledge Sharing

• Mentor and upskill backend-focused engineers in frontend technologies and best practices
• Establish and document frontend development standards and workflows for the team
• Lead code reviews and provide guidance on frontend architecture decisions
• Champion accessibility, performance, and user experience across all frontend implementations
  
  

Collaboration & Product Impact

• Work closely with backend engineers to integrate with APIs and ensure optimal data flow
• Partner with QA teams to implement robust testing strategies for frontend components
• Collaborate with Data Science teams to present complex safety and health data in user-friendly formats
• Support our mission by building interfaces that make safety technology accessible to users of all ages
  
  

Requirements

You are a skilled frontend developer with a passion for creating beautiful, functional user experiences. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy sharing knowledge whilst taking ownership of technical excellence. You're excited about contributing to safety technology that makes a real difference in people's lives.

Essential

Key skills & Experience

• 4+ years of experience in frontend development with React and Typescript
• 4+ years React Native experience with proven ability to build and maintain cross-platform mobile applications
• Expert-level skills in translating UI/UX designs into responsive, accessible interfaces
• Solid understanding of modern frontend tooling (Webpack, Vite, ESLint, testing frameworks)
• Experience mentoring or knowledge-sharing with other developers
• Strong eye for detail and commitment to pixel-perfect implementation
  
  

Highly Desirable

• Experience with design systems and component library development
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles
• Familiarity with GraphQL and modern state management solutions
• Experience in health, safety, or regulated industries
• Understanding of performance optimisation for mobile and web applications
• Experience with automated testing (Jest, React Testing Library, Detox)
