About Take Two
Take Two provides therapeutic services for infants, children, and young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, and disrupted attachment. We contribute to the service system that offers care, support, and protection for these children.
Take Two also partners with community service agencies to provide therapeutic family violence services, foster care, residential care, and services for the Family Preservation and Reunification Response Program.
The Opportunity
- Ballarat office, Wadawurrung Country
- Part-time, 0.5 FTE, permanent role
- Salary: $116K pro-rata plus superannuation and salary packaging
Berry Street has implemented the Teaching Family Model (TFM), an evidence-based holistic approach supporting young people in out-of-home care by teaching social skills, problem-solving, and self-determination in a family-style setting. Our Residential Care staff are trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), a proactive approach to crisis prevention and de-escalation.
As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will work closely with young people and the Residential Care team to facilitate reflective practice and enhance staff knowledge of therapeutic parenting strategies. Your role involves coaching, modeling, and informal therapeutic conversations to foster a therapeutic care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and develop therapeutic treatment plans with clear, regularly reviewed goals.
- Collaborate with clients and care teams to achieve goals within set timeframes.
- Support staff in implementing the Teaching Family Model through training and tailored approaches.
- Assist residential staff in incorporating therapeutic methods.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Strong decision-making skills and clinical judgment.
- Self-discipline to deliver targeted clinical services within strict timeframes.
You should have a proven ability to provide high-quality clinical assessments and treatments for children, young people, and families, meeting service delivery outcomes.
An undergraduate or higher qualification in a Health or Welfare-related field such as Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Family Therapy, Speech Pathology, or a related discipline is required, with at least 5 years of clinical experience with children.
Additional desirable qualifications:
- Postgraduate training
- Experience in secondary consultation, psychoeducation, and coaching
- Family Therapy training
