Join MAF in Arnhem Land — Where Aviation Meets Purpose. MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) uses aviation and technology to bring help, hope and healing to isolated people in need. Our work in Arnhem Land supports remote Indigenous communities through vital air services and mission partnerships. We're looking for a dynamic and mission-hearted Deputy Programme Director (DPD) / Programme Operations Manager (POM) to help lead the charge. Arnhem Land is a historical region of the Northern Territory of Australia, a vast wilderness area defined by rocky escarpments, gorges, rivers and waterfalls. MAF has served the people in Arnhem Land for over 45 years by sharing God's love through aviation and technology. To continue providing this valuable service we need an Operations Manager.
As the DPD/POM, you'll be right in the heart of our operations. Think of yourself as the linchpin—coordinating flight and ground ops, ensuring customers are cared for, keeping resources running smoothly, and supporting our team to deliver with excellence.
Note: Applicants must currently have the legal right to work in Australia. Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment background checks including a National Criminal History check. Acceptance of and adherence to MAF's purpose, vision and values is an essential condition of employment.
Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day flight and ground support operations
- Keep our pilots, planes, and partners working in sync
- Manage fuel, freight, and flight bookings (and the spreadsheets that love them)
- Lead and mentor a dedicated operations team
- Step into the Programme Director's shoes when they're away
- Collaborate across teams to meet mission goals
- Contribute to programme planning, safety and quality systems
- A strong organiser and multitasker with a heart for mission
- A confident leader who builds trust and lifts others up
- Experienced in operations, project management, or logistics
- Familiar with aviation environments (or keen to learn)
- Committed to growing spiritually and walking alongside others in faith
