About The OpportunityAre you looking to start your career as an Arborist? This apprenticeship provides a combination of on-the-job work experience and attendance at TAFE completing a Certificate III in Arboriculture (Elevated Work Platform – EWP Arborist), which when combined gives you a competitive advantage for future professional roles.
The position involves assisting in the daily operation of pruning/removing trees using sound arboriculture techniques, and using and maintaining a large tree chipper upon completion of appropriate training.
We are looking for two professionals to join our team on a term contract, full-time basis for up to 3 years, commencing January 2026. You will be attending TAFE and receiving on-the-job training, working alongside professionals in the industry.
Responsibilities- Assist in the daily operation of pruning/removing trees using sound arboriculture techniques.
- Use and maintain a large tree chipper after appropriate training.
- Applicants must be minimum 15 years of age or older.
- No longer at school or home-schooled.
- If currently enrolled in school or home-schooled must:
- Have completed year 9 or equivalent.
- Provide written approval to proceed from either a school principal or NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) or an authorised person acting in lieu of a school principal.
- No experience required.
- Ability to obtain a class C driver's licence when able to.
- Applicants must be an Australian citizen or be eligible to work in Australia (evidence required).
- Blacktown City Council and 1300apprentice are partnering to conduct the initial recruitment process.
- Applications need to be submitted online through Council's recruitment system.
- The selection process requires chosen applicants for all positions to undertake an interview, aptitude test and a medical examination.
