The Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) is an independent statutory office accountable to the Victorian Parliament which has been established to protect the rights and enhance the position of people with disabilities in Victoria. About The Role
The Guardianship Support Officer (GSO) oversees the general running of the Advocate Guardian team through the triaging of VCAT orders, maintaining and managing the team monitoring list, responding to enquiries about individual guardianship orders and undertaking secondary referrals for information or to progress applications.
Some Of Your Duties Will Include
- Asissting in the triage of matters received by the team to enable those matters to be considered for allocation in consultation with the team leader and other team members
- Making recommendations to the team leader, in respect of any urgent or serious issues arising from files which may require a delegated guardianship decision
- Responding to calls from represented persons, families and professionals for matters.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Knowledge of the Victorian human services sector, particularly the NDIS, mental illness and aged care service systems
- An understanding of the issues relating to disability, including mental illness and age -related disability
- An understanding and ability to apply advanced computer skills to complex word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, or database functions.
