What You Will Be Doing

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Driver Services team, you will help architect and maintain mission-critical systems supporting our more than 800K EV drivers across multiple continents. In this role, you will:

• Contribute to the evolution of a modern, scalable microservices architecture serving global driver use cases.
• Build reliable APIs and services that integrate with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
• Develop asynchronous event pipelines using Kafka, RabbitMQ, and similar technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, and engineers across the US, Europe, and India to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Embrace best practices in testing, observability, monitoring, and CI/CD.
• Drive technical decisions that enable seamless communication and data exchange across the entire ChargePoint ecosystem.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and mentoring activities.

Our services process hundreds of thousands of EV driver transactions per day. You\'ll play a key role in building and mentoring our Indian engineering team.

What You Will Bring To ChargePoint

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, resilient backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and event-driven paradigms.
• Define and evolve our microservices architecture, ensuring it meets demanding performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.
• Architect systems that integrate SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch) data stores efficiently and reliably.
• Drive asynchronous communication patterns using Kafka, RabbitMQ, and other queuing systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, architects, QA, and global engineering teams to deliver mission-critical functionality.
• Promote clean code, maintainable architecture, and observability throughout the platform.
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to other engineers, fostering a high-performing, inclusive engineering culture.
• Communicate clearly across geographically distributed teams, influencing without authority when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 15+ years of hands-on experience in backend software development, with expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience designing microservices architectures and working with event-driven systems at scale.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
• Proven experience with queuing technologies like Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Excellent understanding of distributed systems, consistency models, and fault-tolerant design.
• Comfortable leading cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Exceptional communication skills and experience working across global time zones.
