The Decommissioning Technical team is responsible for processing and facilitating large scale legacy Data Center equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed from the premises. Team members will also process large volumes of customer data to ensure that all customer data is sanitized and properly managed.

Amazon takes customer data with the utmost importance, and selected candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks without variance and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that ensures customer data is protected and properly handled.

Key job responsibilities:

  1. Decommissioning legacy IT hardware
  2. Operate HDD and SSD destruction machinery
  3. Installation, removal, and destruction of server, storage and network devices
  4. Updating progress through a web ticketing system and documenting procedures
  5. This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift & rack equipment using our lifting equipment
  6. Familiarity with basic PC components/hardware:
    1. HDD/SSD/Flash/Removable storage media
    2. USB/FireWire/E sata
    3. Ram/CPU/Motherboard/Input-Output devices

Basic Qualifications:

  1. 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
  2. 1+ years of computer networking experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
