As a Direct Care Professional (DCP), you will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. As a DCP, you will also use your experience and education in Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related fields to:

  • Actively assist our individuals with their personalized plans for daily living, ensuring they are safe, healthy, and living in a clean environment.
  • Assist with planning, implementing, and documenting programs designed to meet social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
  • Plan and participate in community outings, schedule and transport individuals to doctor's appointments, shopping trips, and day programs or schools.
  • Be a mentor to other staff, conduct observations, and provide feedback for required training.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional and behavioral differences, and dual diagnoses. This position involves assisting individuals in daily activities, including health and personal management, achieving personal goals, recreation, and household living, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment that meets their physical, emotional, and personal needs and helps improve functioning and reduce interfering behaviors.

Salary: (commensurate with education and experience)

With a BA / BS - $ $20.86 per hour

With an MA / MS or higher - $ $21.93 per hour

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, education, or a related field is required, or a High School Diploma with 12 years of relevant Human Service experience.
  • Previous experience working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders, complex PTSD, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders is preferred but not required.
