9 Month Contract Position

As our highly valued Assistant Accountant based in Brisbane, your role will be to perform critical general ledger account reconciliations that impact multiple areas of a retail bank. This includes lending, deposits, and payments. The Assistant Accountant role sits within the CFO Division - Finance Team. Along with Finance, the CFO Division is comprised of Treasury, Planning and Performance, General Counsel, Regulatory Capital and Risk, Company Secretary, and Business Controls. The Finance Team is responsible for delivering financial reporting, tax, operational accounting, treasury back office, treasury risk, and regulatory reporting and systems accounting functions for the Great Southern Bank group. The team is accountable for ensuring the delivery, optimisation, and continuous improvement of the finance function.

You'll make an impact by:

  1. Preparation of critical general ledger reconciliations
  2. Performance of key control functions in the finance processes
  3. Preparation of cash, bank, and branch reconciliations
  4. Assistance in performance end of month close activities (i.e. fee allocation journals, write-offs, etc)
To succeed in this role, you will have:
  1. 2 plus years' commercial accounting or financial services industry work experience is desirable
  2. Strong knowledge of accounting concepts
  3. Demonstrated ability to produce accurate work, reliable results, meet tight deadlines, and plan and prioritise workflow
