Job description

Are you looking to be part of a team that raises the bar on quality education and care for children? Liverpool City Council is a not-for-profit organisation that values children as active contributors to decision making, exemplifying a deep respect for their thoughts, ideas and perspectives.

Whether you are an experienced or graduate teacher, Liverpool City Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher to provide leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of high-quality inquiry-based educational curriculums for children attending our services.

Liverpool City Council owns and operates six Early Education and Care Centres and two Preschools across our LGA. Our educators take pride in their profession with all services rated as "Exceeding National Quality Standards" for several years. Our teams value a positive, inclusive, motivating, and collaborative workplace culture. This role is key in leading the team and providing an environment centred around enquiry-based learning, where children can thrive in their formative years.

About You

As an Early Childhood Teacher, you will have a zest for creating curriculums, rituals, rhythms, and practices which allow children to learn through enquiry and investigation. You will love quality resources, loose parts, and materials, enabling you to create inspiring provocations and exceptional learning environments.

You will have the capability to mentor and support educators in delivering educational curriculums, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies within the Early Childhood Education and Care environment. It is essential that you are a degree-qualified Early Childhood Teacher with NESA accreditation and have child protection training approved and recognised by ACECQA. Council will consider applicants actively working towards their early childhood degree with a view to completion prior to December 2026. A first aid certificate is essential. You will also have detailed knowledge of child development and contemporary theories/approaches to early childhood education and care.

Benefits of working at Lcc
  • 5 hours release from face-to-face teaching each week.
  • Up to 18 weeks Paid Parental Leave.
  • Ability to accrue flex hours supporting a work/life balance.
  • Learning and development opportunities including subsidised study costs.
  • Action research opportunities, learning alongside colleagues.
  • Graduate Teacher mentoring program including NESA support.
  • Emerging leaders in-house training program to support career progression.
  • Networking opportunities with Early Childhood Teachers and professionals within the organisation.
  • Partnerships with local universities.
  • Health and wellbeing access including leave, free counselling, and gym subsidy.
  • Salary sacrifice possibilities for Education and Care fees.
  • Beautiful, well-resourced natural learning environments.
