JOB OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the provision of ground maintenance services, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of gardening equipment and machinery to maintain our client's landscaped grounds as per the site schedule and specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION:

  1. SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT:
    Be proactive in identifying hazards, developing safety procedures, and encouraging continuous improvement in relation to HSE. Assist in identifying hazards, advising on safety procedures, and monitoring work practices to ensure adherence to correct procedures and standards for safety and environmental performance. Support the Kolsen Group corporate quality, safety, health, and environmental management systems by:
    • Reporting to your Manager or QHSE Manager any situation that could result in harm to a person, the environment, or may adversely affect the services we provide our customers.
    • Reporting to your Manager or QHSE Manager any opportunities that could improve the quality of service we provide our customers or reduce the potential for harm.
    • Understanding and supporting the annual QHSE objectives.
    To immediately pause or make safe any work condition or activity that could result in immediate harm and notify the responsible line manager and the QHSE adviser or Director.
  2. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS:
    Communicate with internal and external customers on a day-to-day basis to plan work, keep them informed of progress, resolve any issues of concern, and identify variations or additional work.
  3. OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE:
    • Chemical spraying, pulling weeds, and clearing areas of debris.
    • Use of spraying equipment like backpack sprayer, knapsack sprayer, and motorised spraying equipment to control weeds, pests, and insects.
    • Place temporary warning signs when required.
    • Carry out tasks in a manner that causes the least inconvenience to customers, staff, and the general public.
    • Operate equipment and machinery in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the SNT operating procedures.
    • Report maintenance and repair issues to the area supervisor.
    • Understand and comply with quality, safety, health, and environmental policies.
    • Follow written instructions, verbal directions, and procedures to perform work.
    • Challenge any instructions that you believe place anyone or the environment at risk.
    • Take personal responsibility to protect the health and safety of people or the environment.
  4. PEOPLE AND TEAMS:
    Maintain a high level of communication and cooperative working relationships with all parties.
  5. OTHER:
    Undertake other tasks to support the project or business operations as required. Adhere to the Direction, Competence, Opportunity, and Motivation (D-COM) principles.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

ESSENTIALS:

  • Class C Driver's Licence (manual).
  • Ability to work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment.
  • A satisfactory National Police Security Check Report.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to perform manual work for long periods outdoors.

DESIRABLE:

  • Chem Certificate or ability to obtain.
  • Knowledge of pest and weed control.
  • Certificate I or equivalent qualification in horticulture.
  • OCHRE Card (or be willing to obtain).
  • Construction Industry White Card (or be willing to obtain).
