Your Responsibilities
As the Principal, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Uphold the principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
Special purpose arrangement - Partnership Initiative
The Department of Education Partnership Initiative (PI) locations attract special purpose classification level uplifts which recognise the highly complex role of PI school principals. Under the Department of Education State School Teachers' Certified Agreement 2022 (clause 5.9.5), the Director-General may engage a principal at a higher classification level for a special purpose.
The Sunset State School Principal role is a substantive classification SL4,and under the special purpose arrangement is remunerated at classification SL6.
Below are details of how the uplift applies regarding Principal mobility arrangements:
- After a minimum if two years' service at a PI school, a permanent principals seeking transfer will be entitled to have their substantive Principal classification level permanently increased by one level above the PI school's substantive classification level. For the Principal of Sunset State School, this will be SL5, and a permanent Principal of Sunset State School would be transferred at classification SL5.
- Permanent principals who transfer out of a PO school with less than two years' service will be transferred at their substantive principal classification level unless a prior agreement is in place. Leave entitlements during the period of the special purpose classification uplift will be paid at the higher classification rate, in accordance with Directive 16/24 - Higher Duties.
- Attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should be familiar with your relevant work history).
- Attach a written statement (2-page maximum) in response to the attached role description..
- Attach a copy of the mandatory requirements outlined in the attached role description
Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.

When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
