About Central Gippsland Health

Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a subregional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, 3 operating theatres, day procedure unit, and oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and surgical services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.

About Department

The M&CH service is provided by a team of nurses located at Sale, Maffra, Rosedale, Heyfield and Stratford. The nurses work independently with their families and maintain a strong team approach for overall service provision. The M&CH team maintains strong relationships with other agencies and clinicians working with families with young children including The Orange Door, Child Protection, paediatricians and allied health. The service aims to build strong collaborative partnerships to facilitate family focused, integrated, multidisciplinary support for families.

About the Role

The position will work collaboratively to provide a high quality, effective Maternal & Child Health service (M&CH) at CGH. The aim of the service is to strengthen the wellbeing of children, families and the community through family centred practice and implementation of the Key Ages & Stages framework.

Duties

Promote and comply with the M&CH service in accordance with the Framework of the Department of Health Maternal and Child Health Service.

Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate integrated person-centred care leading to timely and effective client discharge.

Apply the principles of culturally inclusive, family-centred practice and primary health care to promote optimal child and family health and development outcomes.

Mandatory: Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Registered nurse & registered midwife holding current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority

Post Graduate Maternal & Child Health qualification

Proven and significant experience as a Maternal & Child Health nurse

Understanding of and experience in application of the M&CH Key Ages & Stages Framework

Preferred leadership/coordination experience

Preferred Lactation qualification

Current Driver's License (evidence must be provided)

Clear Police Check regarding any criminal record will be required prior to finalisation of the appointment and updated every three (3) years

Clear Working with Children Check will be required prior to commencement and updated every five (5) years

We serve an immediate population of approximately 42,000 in Central Gippsland, and reach a wider community in East Gippsland in terms of more specialised services such as perinatal services, critical care and surgery. We are a sub-regional and integrated health service, providing a broad range of primary, secondary and tertiary services, including HACC services, through to adult intensive, coronary care and level 2 neonatal care. The current focus of the health service is to use our integration to break down program barriers and service delivery silos to develop a highly efficient system that places people at the centre of service delivery, aligned with the active service model.
