Overview

Store Manager @ Budgy Smuggler. Permanent role based in Newcastle (Kotara store, Westfield). Lead a team, build connections, and be the face of Budgy Smuggler in the community. Budgy Smuggler is an Aussie icon selling swimwear and apparel with a bold, cheeky brand personality.

Newcastle is Budgy Smuggler's first permanent store outside Sydney, and this role involves running the Kotara store and engaging with the local community to grow the Budgy presence.

Responsibilities
  • Store Operations: Lead the Kotara store to create a retail experience as bold and fun as the brand; keep shelves fresh with weekly product drops and eye-catching visual merchandising; recruit, train, and inspire a passionate casual team who proudly wear the brand; schedule staff in line with seasonal trends, school holidays, and local events; act as the eyes and ears of the store, sharing wins, challenges, and feedback weekly with head office.
  • Be the Face of Budgy: Deliver best-in-class customer service that leaves people grinning; keep the store looking schmick and sales pumping; know the product range inside-out and help customers find their perfect pair; create memorable moments with in-store events and activations.
  • Build the Newcastle Community: Spend one to two days per week out in the community meeting local surf clubs, schools, restaurants, pubs, fitness groups, and sports clubs; partner with Retail and Marketing teams to plan pop-up events and activations; grow the Budgy community through genuine local connections.
About You
  • At least two years of retail leadership experience (fashion, lifestyle, or sportswear is a bonus).
  • An eye for visual merchandising that makes people stop and say, "That's fun."
  • A confident, proactive, creative type who's comfortable being the face of a brand.
  • Someone who thrives on juggling both store operations and community buzz.
  • A genuine love for summer, Budgy Smuggler, and all things Aussie.
  • A magnetic personality that draws people in and keeps them coming back.
Salary and Hours
  • Salary: $65,000 – $70,000 + super.
  • Hours: 38 per week, every 2nd weekend; may change in summer.
