About the role
This is an exciting new and diverse role for a governance, third party risk management, operational resilience, vendor management or procurement professional to grow their career with a growing financial services provider.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have a proven capability to operate with a level of autonomy, who is proactively motivated and had prior experience governing Material Service Providers relationships across investment services, technology, or within the financial services industry.
In this role you will work with the Senior Leaders across the business - providing guidance, expertise, and setting the standards by which procurement services will be delivered across the group and the regulated entity in line with the new APRA CPS 230 standard.
Your responsibilities will include
- Governance ownership – Lead activities to build procurement organisational capabilities and improve procurement efficiency. Develop, implement, and maintain a procurement function supporting leadership team governance practices through the supplier contract life cycle (onboarding, reporting, incident and issues management, offboarding).
- Owning and embedding policies and procedures – Develop and implement risk management strategies/tools to minimise cost exposure to the business. Track risk-assessment actions and suggest process improvements that lift the whole framework, drive compliance and reduce risk for the organisation.
- Uplifting contractual arrangements to meet CPS 230 requirements – Supporting Senior Leaders renegotiate and transition arrangements and practices to align with the requirements and manage the operational risks.
- Escalation point – Providing subject matter expertise to navigate through issues and events to rapidly respond or put in place well considered plans to support management maintain or transition services impacting critical operations.
- Documentation of key plans – Maintain and lead documentation of appropriate contractual arrangements, plans (contingency / exit) for Material Service Providers, plus evidence of sustainability and performance controls.
- Support & uplift – support Senior Leaders and contract owners, with advice, information, and guidance on procurement related matters across the company helping embed governance and support good practice in procurement meeting CPS 230 requirements. Including:
- Analyse and report on supply market performance to support planning and sourcing recommendations.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with critical suppliers.
- Investigate alternate supply options to meet ongoing and future business requirements
Skills and qualifications required
- 5+ years' experience in governance, third party risk management, supplier risk, operational resilience, vendor management or procurement, ideally with Material Service Providers under APRA CPS 230 / 231.
- Proven success in steering Senior Mangers through the life cycle of procurement activities – tendering, contract negotiation, risk assessments, BCP / contingency planning, sustainability metrics and performance reporting.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and the ability to interpret and implement compliance requirements into practical guidance.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and communicate with executives, risk, procurement, legal, and operations leaders.
- Collaborative style - able to coach, challenge and hold people to account.
- Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills, with a results-driven mindset
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting plans as required in a dynamic regulatory environment
- Experience working in programs involving risk, compliance, operational resilience, or technology uplift is desirable
Qualifications
- Diploma in Procurement and Supply desirable, completion of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) accreditation is highly regarded.
- A Master of Business Administration, Master of Finance or other relevant post graduate qualification would be favourably viewed
