The RoleThe Cleaner in Charge (CIC) is responsible for inducting, training, leading, and managing cleaning staff including relief staff; monitoring and ordering stock supplies within your budget; maintenance and stocktake of cleaning equipment; undertaking cleaning of allocated internal and external areas; opening and locking the school, including setting the security alarm system.
Responsibilities and what you will do- Supervise and coordinate cleaning staff, including induction and training of staff.
- Monitor stock levels and order supplies within the budget; maintain cleaning equipment and perform stocktakes.
- Clean allocated internal and external areas as required.
- Open and close the school and operate the security alarm system.
- Work with school staff to maintain a clean and safe school environment.
- Manage staff performance in consultation with the Manager Corporate Services and liaise on all cleaning matters.
- Experience supervising staff; good attention to detail; able to work well with others.
- Organised, reliable, punctual; able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods, and practices.
- Ability to interpret Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions, and training guidelines.
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
