Service Technician - Golden Plains Wind Farm

Overview: This role is for an electrician or mechanical technician to work in the service team at Golden Plains Wind Farm. The successful applicant must hold a recognised Australian trade certificate. Vestas is the global leader in wind power solutions and is growing in Australia and New Zealand.

The technicians report to the site supervisor and are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the wind turbines in accordance with the contract. Support is provided by an administrator and a planner with KPIs set by the Service Manager.

Base pay range

A$52.50/hr - A$56.70/hr

Responsibilities
  • Undertake scheduled service and reactive maintenance as required
  • Respond and attend site outside normal working hours to undertake reactive maintenance on a rostered basis
  • Maintain all company vehicles and keep plant equipment in good, clean condition
  • Undertake operations and maintenance within the limits of training and authorisation including operation of HV and LV
  • Ensure that each task is undertaken in a manner that ensures the safety of personnel, protects the environment and follows work methods at all times
  • Undertake the site induction
  • Undertake the requirements of the SMA (Service Maintenance Agreement)
  • Comply with OH&S duty of care and participate in accident prevention
  • Observe all work instructions, procedures, safety codes of practice, OH&S and environmental requirements and statutory rules and regulations
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as required
  • Participate in safety, toolbox and other meetings where required
  • Perform other duties within competence, skill, qualifications and experience as directed
Qualifications
  • A Grade Electrical License
  • and/or Mechanical trade certificate
  • GWO training, working at heights, safety, manual handling, HV/LV rescue, fire awareness, first aid (optional or not required)
  • Literate with PC & modern technologies to support day-to-day work
  • Ability to read/interpret technical drawings to support fault-finding and maintenance
  • Knowledge of PLC and/or SCADA systems (advantage)
  • Motivation to learn new skills and thrive in a growing industry
  • Understanding of safety principles and willingness to adhere to and drive safety compliance
  • Experience with HV/LV, hydraulics, and mechanical systems in residential, commercial, and/or industrial environments
  • Proficient in the use of various hand tools
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a small team
  • Ability to work at heights in confined environments

Additional information: This role is based on-site at Golden Plains Wind Farm and involves working within a small team environment. The department is supported by an administrator and planner and reports to the site supervisor.
