About the Role
We are seeking a Copywriter & Content Lead to work within our growing Digital & Technology team so that Autistic people and their families can live their best lives in a more autism inclusive Australia. Not solely of course, but that's our goal and we need you to help us in this exciting new phase.
You'll be writing to tone, establishing content design principles and tailoring messaging to our audiences such as Autistic people and their families, or organisational partners amongst others.
Reporting to the Digital & Technology Manager, you will audit, proof and produce high-quality copy that supports organisational objectives across various channels—such as informational copy on our website, or campaign-related copy for online engagement on our social channels as examples. Working to refine a data-driven and user-centric approaches to user journeys and aligning those to organisational objectives.
As the sole dedicated copy specialist, you will work both independently and collaboratively, managing end-to-end projects, and guiding colleagues on best practices. You'll create clear, targeted, accessible copy, and help us define publishing standards.

For more than 50 years, Amaze has been supporting Autistic people, their families, and the community. While based in Victoria, our reach is national, and we are the home of Australia's first-ever national autism helpline – Autism Connect. This service is free to any person residing in Australia.
We also work closely with governments, partner organisations, corporates and grassroots community groups and supporters across the country to deliver vital services and information to the autism community. Our focus also extends to assisting employers to create more autism inclusive workplaces that can sustainably support increased and improved employment of Autistic people. As well as working to increase broader community understanding and acceptance of autism and providing high quality advice and support, we translate autism community experiences into broader policy needs that inform and drive systems-change.
Key Responsibilities
·Write, edit, and proofread high-quality content for websites, email campaigns, social media, reports, newsletters, and print materials.
·Develop and maintain clear, engaging messaging and narratives that align with brand voice and visual identity.
·Adapt tone and style to suit different audiences, including community members, funders, policymakers and partners.
·Build and manage a library of content to support campaigns, new products, and partnership promotions.
·Plan, prioritise, and deliver multiple projects end-to-end with minimal supervision, maintaining content calendars and version control.
·Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather input, influence messaging, and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
·Use analytics tools and SEO best practices to monitor, evaluate, and optimise content performance.
·Stay informed on trends in inclusive communications, accessibility, and relevant sector developments.
A Day in the Life of Our New Copywriter & Content Lead
·Crafting compelling copy for multiple channels while managing your content calendar and project timelines.
·Writing and editing long-form and short-form content that transforms complex information into engaging narratives.
·Collaborating with teams across Autism Connect, Community Engagement, and Inclusion to ensure messaging alignment.
·Providing guidance and advice to colleagues on messaging best practices and brand voice consistency.
·Analysing content performance metrics and using insights to refine future messaging strategies.
·Switching between different writing styles and tones to suit diverse audiences from community members to corporate partners.
·Managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards and meeting deadlines.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
·Has a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in journalism, English, communications, or related discipline.
·Brings 3-5 years of professional copywriting experience or content editing, with a solid portfolio of long-form and short-form pieces for a wide range of audiences.
·Demonstrates strong stakeholder engagement and management skills, with an understanding of key drivers in diversity and inclusion and/or disability sectors.
·Has experience working in a lean team or as the sole copywriter.
·Possesses exposure to multichannel content delivery (web, email, resources, social media, print).
·Shows familiarity with SEO principles and basic analytics, with experience evaluating content performance through data.
·Demonstrates excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to adapt style and tone for different audiences.
·Exhibits strong organisational skills and multitasking ability, including confidence managing multiple projects simultaneously.
·Has a clear understanding of plain language and inclusive communication, turning complex information into clear, engaging content.
·Shows commitment to respectful communications for Autistic people and their families and carers, with either existing knowledge or willingness to develop this expertise.
A Working with Children Check and National Police Check will be required if successful through Amaze.

Other Requirements:
·Hybrid working arrangements may be available for this role depending on operational requirements, with an expectation of 60% office attendance.
·Flexible working arrangements may be considered to support individual needs subject to manager approval and the operational requirements of the role.
·Evidence of right to work in Australia if you are not an Australian citizen.
·Successful National Police Check (paid by Amaze).
·Successful Working with Children Check (paid by Amaze).
·Able to provide 2 references upon request if successful in obtaining the role.
