Casual Relief Teacher rate $623 per day.
Indie School Burnie and Wynyard invite qualified teachers to join our Casual Relief Teacher (CRT) pool. We are looking for educators, whether new graduates or experienced, primary or secondary trained—who share our passion for holistic, strengths-based education and believe every young person can re-engage and succeed.
Suitable candidates will be interviewed and if successful, will be placed into an active talent pool, with potential opportunities for future positions as they become available.
The daily casual relief teacher rate is $623 per day. Casual relief teachers will receive a full day rate even if they work less than a full day
Indie School provides students in Years 9–12 the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using individual learning plans tailored to each student's circumstances. Smaller class sizes allow students to identify their strengths and work on areas of improvement.
The foundation of Indie School lies in Adult Education philosophies. Choice, independence, mutual respect, and accountability are integral. In return for higher self-responsibility, students enjoy greater freedoms.
Successful Applicants will be required to:
- Deliver the teaching program aligned with the appropriate curriculum.
- Demonstrate excellent teacher knowledge, practice, and professional engagement.
- Use time and resources effectively in delivering classes aligned with students' individual plans.
- Promote the school's alternative, strengths-based educational model to support student goals and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively in a small team and implement feedback.
- Participate in coaching and mentoring programs.
- Support students with diverse learning needs, including disabilities, behavioural issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, low literacy/numeracy, and mental health conditions, personalizing learning as per NCCD levels.
- Embed strategies from Individual Plans into lessons to support student needs.
- Provide timely, specific feedback to foster learning growth, especially through formative assessment.
- Manage behaviour effectively, with an understanding of trauma-informed practices or a willingness to learn.
- Support students in experiencing success.
For this position, applicants must be willing and able to provide:
- National Police Check issued within 2 weeks prior to start.
- Working with Children Check.
- Current Tasmanian teacher registration (TAS).
