Barrett Adolescent Centre Special School is seeking an enthusiastic Schools Officer, Grounds & Facilities to join our team. This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis for 8 months, unless otherwise specified.

The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining school grounds and facilities to a high standard, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the wider community.

About Us

Barrett Adolescent School supports secondary students who have disengaged from mainstream schooling due to mental health challenges. We value Health through Knowledge, supporting students to re-engage in education while working with stakeholders to develop resilience and relationships.

Your Role

This is a OO2 progression position as per the role description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification, with eligibility to progress to OO3 upon meeting specific criteria. The salary rate reflects the OO2 to OO3 range.

This role includes grounds and garden maintenance, minor repairs, and supporting day-to-day operational tasks. Additionally, the Schools Officer will contribute to a positive school environment by supporting facility operations and collaborating with staff on activities and events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain school grounds, including lawns, sports fields, and gardens
  • Perform inspections and maintenance of facilities to ensure safety and functionality
  • Handle routine repairs and ensure equipment and systems are operational
About You
  • Experience in grounds maintenance, facilities management, or similar roles
  • Basic knowledge of building systems, electrical, plumbing, and maintenance preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Passion for creating a safe and attractive learning environment
