Building and Facilities Maintenance Officer

Permanent / Full Time (9-day fortnight)

Location – Regional (Bowen based preferred)

$78,456.49 to $83,967.48 per annum

The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville. The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic environment and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest.

Your opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists within our Corporate Services Directorate for a Building and Facilities Maintenance Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out general and minor maintenance tasks on Council-owned properties including community facilities, public amenities, corporate buildings, depots, and various other assets. This role will also assist Council's asset management program by conducting regular condition inspections.

Your skills and experience:

Essential

  • C Class Manual Driver's Licence
  • Current General Construction Induction card (White Card).
  • Demonstrated experience in performing general building maintenance.
  • Physical ability to carry out manual tasks and operate hand and power tools.
  • Sound knowledge of safety practices and ability to follow safe work procedures.

Desirable

  • Certificate III in Construction, General Building, Carpentry, or related trade.
  • Efficient use of Microsoft Office suite programs, including mobile devices and software to manage work orders.
  • First Aid Certificate.
