About the role

The Operations Manager will ensure that all outbound operations are resourced to meet volume demands, inclusive of labour and equipment.

What you'll do
  1. Determine and arrange for weekly and daily labor requirements.
  2. Ensure staff are trained in local procedures and in the use of operational equipment and where applicable, hold a current license.
  3. Supervise daily activities to ensure that work is performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and legislation.
  4. Have regular communication with all depots, operations, fleet control and customer service.
  5. Co-ordinate the loading / unloading of vehicles inbound and outbound.
  6. Document training and forward to Safety, Training & Quality Co-Ordinator for entry into database.
  7. Ensure induction of agency, casual and permanent employees is carried out and documented.
  8. Ensure all incidents including near misses are reported, investigated and corrective actions implemented.
What you'll bring
  1. Previous experience in leadership role in transport or logistics operations.
  2. Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety policies and legislation.
  3. Ability to determine labour and equipment to meet scheduled workloads.
  4. Proven problem-solving ability with a solutions orientation.
  5. Commercial acumen with understanding of cost control measures.
  6. Ability to identify and remedy operational inefficiencies and service problems.
  7. Ability to deliver training in procedures and operations of equipment/systems.
