Overview

Pharmacist – 6-8 Week placement

Monday to Friday from 8am-4:21pm (1 hour lunch break)

Applicants must be capable of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and be flexible in managing competing demands, shifting priorities and shared responsibilities across clinical and dispensary services. Direct engagement with patients for counselling and education. Close collaboration with doctors, nurses, and allied health staff.

  • Manage competing demands, shifting priorities and shared responsibilities across clinical and dispensary services
Requirements and Qualifications
  • NT immunisation requirements
  • Working with Children Check SAFE NT Online Applications – Working With Children Clearance
  • Criminal history checks must be undertaken by Northern Territory SafeNT. If you have a Northern Territory national police check that is current (within the last 6 months) the original will need to be sighted
Logistics
  • Return Travel: Reimbursement is available for return travel, capped at $1,200
  • Travel to Katherine: The most common route is to fly into Darwin and then take the Greyhound bus to Katherine. If using the bus, arrive in Katherine on a business day on the 2:05pm service so we can arrange pick-up and transport to accommodation
  • Accommodation: On-site or off-site accommodation may be available; availability varies. In some cases, only shared accommodation is offered – typically in a 2-3 bedroom unit or house – with other Allied Health/Nursing/Medical staff of the same gender. On-campus accommodation is prioritised for locums without a vehicle, but not guaranteed
  • Vehicle Access: Katherine Hospital maintains a pool of vehicles that staff can book for personal errands (grocery shopping). Vehicles are bookable via the internal system and can be used up to 2-3 hours at a time, with a travel limit of 30km from town
Knowledge and System
  • Knowledge of renal and indigenous health highly regarded
  • Dispensing system is Merlin
