The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) leads the Australian Government's efforts to improve cybersecurity. We are part of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), and our role is to make Australia the most secure place to connect online.

ASD has an ongoing requirement for Software & Infrastructure Test Analysts to support various cyber projects within an integrated workforce.

Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of the ICT software & systems development cycle and infrastructure testing, with a focus on test planning, analysis, execution, and reporting. Experience in testing complex integrated solutions, including security use-cases and testing security components, is essential. Candidates should be comfortable operating as a hands-on Test Analyst within a SAFe environment, using the Atlassian stack for test design, execution, and reporting.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with strong technical skills and initiative. They should operate as a peer within a high-performing technical team, possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and be comfortable working in a dynamic agile environment.

Indicative duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Conducting software development and infrastructure integration testing using CI/CD technologies.
  2. Performing test analysis, design, execution, and reporting activities.
  3. Supporting the Test Manager with test strategy and planning.
  4. Analyzing and reporting on test outcomes, managing defects.
  5. Identifying process improvements and contributing to testing standards and best practices.
  6. Communicating testing risks and issues to relevant stakeholders.
  7. Ensuring the integrity of testing processes.
  8. Working independently as a motivated, self-starting team member.

Key knowledge and experience required include:

  1. Broad experience testing complex integrated solutions with system interfaces, including security use-cases and infrastructure components like networks, gateways, and firewalls.
  2. Hands-on experience as a Test Analyst within an agile Scrum environment, using Atlassian tools for test design, execution, and reporting.

Applicants must address the selection criteria in their application:

  1. Responsibility for all aspects of the test process, including analysis, design, execution, and reporting.
  2. Experience verifying ICT infrastructure (physical and virtual), CI/CD solutions, and client/server software.
  3. Maintaining test integrity and coordinating test activities.
  4. Understanding security testing and system security principles.
  5. Experience conducting testing within a SAFe Agile methodology.
  6. Verifying non-functional requirements such as load, performance, reliability, and compliance.
  7. Using Jira and Confluence for test artefact management.
