We are currently seeking multiple Systems Solutions and Software Designer roles for a large Federal Government Agency in Canberra.

  • Contracts commencing January 2026 to December 2026 with ongoing extensions
  • Canberra based roles
  • WFH Flexibility

About the roles

We are seeking multiple Systems Solutions and Software Designers to contribute to the maintenance of the Agency's Operations Management System.

Duties

  • Produce detailed component specifications and translate these designs for implementation.
  • Apply software development skills and engineering principles to develop systems for deployable capability.
  • Develop comprehensive unit test plans and support design and test evaluation.
  • Apply agile methodologies to design and develop a defensive cyber operations suite.

And/or

  • Conduct work in accordance with engineering management systems.
  • Work with the Product Manager and stakeholders to shape system development.
  • Lead a technical team to coordinate requirements elicitation, design, and development through the Agency Capability Life Cycle and AGILE framework.
  • Lead a technical team to design and integrate systems with external systems.
  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly.
  • Conduct engineering reviews of developed artefacts.

  • Strong Defence background
  • Systems Engineering background
  • Requirements Engineering
  • Technical Governance
  • Agile methodology
  • Technical Regulatory frameworks (ICT TAF, TRAMM-L, eTAMM/DASR, NTRS)
  • Early Capability development (First Pass/Second Pass)

And/or

  • Experience with Linux OS automation and administration
  • Experience with C#, JavaScript, and Python
  • Proficient with React and CSS
  • Experience integrating custom software with third-party APIs
  • Experience with container orchestration, Docker, Podman, Kubernetes
  • Experience with Hypervisor platforms, VMWare, Hyper-V
