The Opportunity

We're on the lookout for a dynamic and future-focussed Senior Consultant to join our Smart and Sustainable Places team. This role sits within a specialised team within the National Planning Business Unit that is expanding its capacity in the energy and sustainability sectors. Leveraging your technical expertise and proven skills, you'll support our clients by offering innovative advice and insights. This role requires someone who is passionate about environmental planning and the energy sector with a primary focus in NSW, however you may be called on to asssit on projects with a natonal focus.

You Will

• Provide a high range of services including advice relating to renewable energy, sustainability, land use advice, development capability, due diligence assessments, planning approval process, smart city and innovation frameworks, and project management.
• Preparation of planning applications and post approval activities, including preparation of Environmental Impact Statements, Statement of Environmental Effects, and Environmental Management Strategies.
• Develop client relationships by building trust, providing quality advice and managing expectations.
• Write submissions, proposals and advice that accurately reflects the client's needs.
• Manage small to medium size projects, including scoping and costing of projects, tracking job costs and coordinating consultants and sub-consultants, when necessary.
• Identify and raise issues which may impact fee estimates and/or project delivery timelines.
• Coach and develop individuals with the team, as appropriate.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance and the Planning team's Business Plan.
• Work alongside other professionals on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, working to specification, to deadlines, within budget and with a commercial outcome.
  
  

About You

• Holds a tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• Ideally a minimum of 5 years' experience within the Town Planning industry, with preferred expereince in the renewable energy and sustainability sector.
• Demonstrated appreciation and understanding of the application of smart city, sustainability and resilience principles in the delivery of projects and places.
• Proficient appreciation and understanding of impacts and issues affecting the natural and built environment alongside a strong understanding of strategic policies, processes and influences.
• Interest and emerging capability in research and analysis of matters relevant to Innovation, Energy Sector, Sustainability and Smart Cities principles.
• Proficient capability in written and verbal communications and engagement with a variety of stakeholders.
• Influences outcomes through proactive, informed and decisive communication.
• Successfully manages client priorities and expectations.
• Positively challenges existing practices and/or viewpoints to achieve the best outcome.
• Coaches and mentors individuals within the team.
• Prioritises and manages the competing demands of multiple assignments and/ or projects within agreed timeframes and budget.
