Clinical Pharmacist, Prison Health - Professional 2

Prison Health are currently seeking a Pharmacist who is enthusiastic and motivated to join our expanding Prison Health team. Pharmacy Team

The Prison Health pharmacy team is a multi-disciplinary team providing medicines management services to the Correctional Facilities in the Top End of the NT. We strive to optimise the quality use of medicines through innovative patient care to improve the health of incarcerated Territorians.

The pharmacy team comprises of a small team of 3 pharmacists and 4 pharmacy technicians, who work within a clinic comprising of doctors, nurses, and other visiting allied health. We have a strong focus on workforce culture and systems improvement.

Services provided by the pharmacy department include,
  • Clinical review of clients charts
  • Provide professional advice in context of correctional setting
  • Management and distribution of medications dispensed by contracted pharmacy
  • PRN medication dispensing

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am – 4:21pm.

Holtze Correctional Precinct

The Prison Health Clinic is primarily located within the Holtz Correctional Precinct, which is an approximately 25min drive from Darwin CBD, and 15min from Palmerston CBD. The clinic looks after a population of approx. 2000 people, with about 700 on regular medications. Prison health staff may also work at other correctional sites closer to the Darwin CBD as needed.

Department of Health has a Smoke Free Policy. Staff are not permitted to smoke anywhere on Departmental premises, facilities or vehicle nor whilst working off-site.
