The opportunity

As we see significant growth in our projects and pipeline, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior or Associate level Environmental Scientist to join our team. Working closely with two senior leaders, you will work across water, energy, mining, and defence sectors.

The role is based in our Townsville office, with the option to work from home 1-2 days per week when not on site.

Your work will include the full life cycle of contaminated site assessments, such as:

  • Property transaction due diligence assessments (Stage 1s)
  • Environmental Site Assessments and Detailed Site Investigations (Stage 2s)
  • Legacy industrial sites
  • Decommissioning programs on large upstream oil and gas sites (Fuel terminals)
  • Transport infrastructure projects including rail, road, and ports
  • Downstream oil and gas sites (Service stations)
  • Mine sites (Coal, copper, bauxite, and other commodities)
  • Defence projects including PFAS monitoring and remediation programs
What you'll do
  • Conduct environmental field works such as drilling, hydrogeological testing, site validation, remediation supervision, and monitoring, with safety and geology considerations
  • Collect environmental samples of soil, surface water, sediment, groundwater, vapour, air, and landfill gas
  • Analyze large datasets, develop conceptual site models, and prepare detailed field notes
  • Draft technical assessment reports and recommendations
  • Oversee contractors, ensuring safe, compliant, and quality field work
  • Apply relevant legislation, standards, and project specifications
  • Prepare proposals and lead projects to meet budget and strategic goals
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Guide and mentor junior consultants
  • Contribute to a culture of teamwork, innovation, and collaboration
  • Collaborate with the national team on initiatives
  • Manage small to medium-scale projects
  • Contribute to market action plans for targeted clients
  • Uphold safety culture and champion safety initiatives
About you

You likely have 7-12+ years of relevant experience, are enthusiastic, reliable, and excel at building collaborative relationships.

You will also have:

  • Experience managing contaminated-site projects
  • Knowledge of soil contaminants, sampling techniques, investigation methodologies, and remediation technologies
  • Understanding of QLD regulations for contaminated sites
  • A current full Australian Driver's Licence
  • Ability to meet Defence clearance requirements as an Australian Citizen or permanent resident
  • Degree in earth sciences, agriculture, environmental science, or engineering
  • Some experience in business development, proposal writing, and delivering client outcomes
