Our client is a leading provider of industrial and municipal water and wastewater treatment systems across Australia, NZ and the Pacific Islands. They deliver treatment plants and technology to municipal and industrial end users in the F&B, mining, municipal, infrastructure and manufacturing sectors across Australia, with a focus on sustainability, climate adaptation and environmental protection in water and wastewater.

Position

We are seeking a Process Engineer (Industrial Water) to join the company\'s growing team based in Sydney. This role offers the opportunity to work on the design, delivery, and commissioning of advanced industrial water and wastewater treatment plants and engineered systems. Projects typically range from $1m–$10m AUD, and you will help shape solutions for leading industrial companies in Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop process designs for industrial water and wastewater treatment systems, including chemical, physical, and biological processes.
  • Support project delivery teams during detailed design, procurement, fabrication, and installation.
  • Provide on-site commissioning and optimisation of treatment plants and engineered systems.
  • Prepare technical documentation, mass balances, P&IDs, and process specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure technical excellence and project success.
  • Stay across emerging technologies, particularly membranes, biological treatment, and emerging contaminants.
About You
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong chemical/chemistry background with demonstrated experience in water or wastewater treatment.
  • Advantageous experience in biological treatment systems, membranes, or emerging contaminants.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a project-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Exposure to a wide range of sectors including F&B, infrastructure, mining and renewable energy.
