Great Southern Rail ("GSR") operates Australia's iconic rail journeys, including The Ghan, Indian Pacific, Great Southern, and The Overland. GSR is part of the Journey Beyond Group, a dynamic tourism business focused on sharing special places and creating lasting memories for guests. Key responsibilities will include :
- Ensure the effective and safe operation of all electrical and mechanical systems on the trains.
- Manage and maintain power generation units for optimal efficiency.
- Conduct regular patrols of the train to monitor equipment.
- Record all maintenance and repairs, and follow up on repairs requiring further action.
- Submit detailed trip reports to the manager.
- Perform inspections of trains at various locations.
- Perform duties at the Adelaide Parklands Terminal as required.
About You
The successful applicant will hold a current and recognised Trade Qualification as an Electrical Tradesperson, a Senior First Aid Certificate, and Safe Working Qualifications or be willing to obtain them. Experience in maintenance activities, with knowledge of power generation, electrical, air-conditioning, and mechanical systems, is highly desirable. The role is physically demanding, requiring long periods of standing and work in confined spaces.
