Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Ashurst Full time
Overview

Ashurst is a leading global law firm with a determination to go beyond the ordinary by outpacing change. We have a community of 4800+ people across over 30 offices globally and are a trusted adviser to top corporates, financial institutions and governments. What sets us apart is our ambition for our people and our clients.

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a Business Acceptance Analyst to join our Risk & Compliance team either in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne on a full time, permanent basis.

Working as part of our Global Risk & Compliance Department, the Business Acceptance Team is responsible for ensuring the firm is protected from reputational, legal, and commercial risks. This includes analysing all new clients and matters to identify and resolve legal and commercial issues such as conflicts of interest, ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/ CTF) obligations, and meeting international regulatory requirements for sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEP), and client-related negative press.

The role is ideally suited to an individual with clear and confident communication, strong analytical and research skills, and a desire to work collaboratively with a dynamic and motivated team. A legal qualification is not essential, but problem solving, professionalism, and sound judgement are key. A full job description, including a breakdown of responsibilities, can be found on our Ashurst careers page.

We are interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Demonstrated experience in Risk & Compliance, Conflicts and/or AML/KYC in the professional services sector, ideally within a law firm or large corporation
  • Knowledge of AML/CTF obligations
  • Degree qualified in Law, Risk Management, Business, Politics, Economics or related discipline
  • Strong organisational and research skills, attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgement and an inquisitive mind
  • Good team spirit: train, mentor and assist others, when necessary, with the resolution of issues in a diplomatic manner
  • Flexible, versatile and able to adapt to new situations, processes and technology
  • Analytical ability
  • Good attention to detail
  • Systems: Experience working with Microsoft Suite including Word and Excel, and preferable experience utilising legal and business search engines and databases

We value diverse perspectives at Ashurst, so even if you don't feel you meet all of the requirements, we still encourage you to apply.

For more information or if you require any support and adjustments to participate equitably in our recruitment process or in the workplace, please contact for a confidential conversation.
