Position Summary:
The role of the Resident Service Coordinator is to enable residents to live as independently and self-sufficiently as possible. RSCs link residents to existing services and resources in the community, assist residents to build an informal support network among themselves, encourage residents to be proactive in meeting their social, psychological, and physical needs, provide conflict resolution assistance as appropriate, and seek out assistance with existing community resources when needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Acquire a broad knowledge of the community and the surrounding area.
- Process Reasonable Accommodation Requests for residents with disabilities.
- Prepare and maintain a log of resident issues and services provided.
- Foster a positive, active, and collaborative relationship with residents, local government, non-profit agencies, social service providers, hospitals, healthcare organizations, transportation organizations, colleges/universities, and representatives of the greater community.
- Assist in developing programming that addresses self-sufficiency issues such as money management/budgeting, parenting skills/support, job readiness, nutrition & fitness, and youth enrichment/afterschool programming.
- Assess and coordinate referrals and resources, recommending solutions to resolve resident issues impacting their personal life, health, and well-being, and refer them to suitable community services, resources, and Entitlement Programs, as appropriate.
- Participate in joint annual apartment inspections with the Property Manager and/or Maintenance; follow up on any referrals from inspections such as housekeeping and hoarding issues, presence of unauthorized occupants, smoking in apartments, etc.
- Build a sense of community by providing programs that engage residents and promote socialization.
- Maintain positive relationships with residents to ensure that communication between residents and community representatives is open and effective.
- Assist residents with resolution of lease violations under the direct supervision of the Property Manager.
- Resolve conflict between residents, family members, and neighbors.
- Meet with the Resident Block/Building/Floor Captains, Neighborhood Watch representatives, and/or community police liaison on a regular basis to review site issues and reports about any concerning activity on the property.
- May be required to report, track, and follow up on New Lease and RAD program initiatives.
- May be required to assist with programming in the Computer Learning Center afterschool program.
- Attend Property Management/RSC meetings and/or staff meetings, as required.
- Enforce and adhere to company policies, rules, and regulations.
- Preserve and respect resident and applicant confidentiality.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
